Ubocze Rec.

Ubocze Rec. is, above all, a community. We help each other with music, covers, recordings, concerts, and promotion. We recommend artists and labels to each other, share knowledge, equipment, contacts, and ideas. Sometimes someone needs help with a mix, someone else is looking for a vocalist, someone has an idea for a collaborative project. These little things lead to new recordings and new connections.

That doesn’t mean we don’t care about our listeners. Quite the opposite. We want music to reach beyond the circle of people who created it. We want to reach people in Wrocław, Poland, and—why not—anywhere in the world. The internet makes that possible. But the number of listens or album sales isn’t the only measure of whether something is worthwhile. Equally important is the fact that, thanks to a single album, two people meet, someone starts a new project, someone dares to release something for the first time, or simply finds the music they need.

That’s why we call ourselves Ubocze. Partly out of defiance of the city center, partly out of a belief that interesting things don’t always happen where the noise is loudest. And partly because of local history… just ask Uchylak.

It’s a small publishing house. A small community. Lots of music. And quite a few things still waiting for their moment.
