A fox sees a man before a man sees a fox.
In Iceland, it doesn’t take much to lose your way.
A little snow.
Fog.
Wind.
And a paw print leading somewhere a sensible person shouldn’t go.
A fox moves in the distance.
The man sees it for a moment.
White on white.
Then it disappears.
The man follows it.
At some point, the man stops following the fox.
He turns around.
He sees two sets of prints in the snow.
One leads ahead of him.
The other—behind him.
Both are his.
